TSAUK CONSTITUTION
1. Name of the Organisation:
The name of the organisation shall be Taiwanese Student Association in thr UK, which shall be abbreviated hereafter as TSAUK
2. Aim of the organisation:
The TSAUK shall aim to promote an understanding of the Taiwanese culture and history, both amongst the Taiwanese students and the general publics, to thereby promote Taiwan's international profile, and to serve as a forum for exchanging knowledge and information and promote friendship between members.
3. Membership:
The membership of the TSAUK is open to all Taiwanese students attending secondary schools, language schools and higher educational institutions in the UK. Anyone wishes to join can do so by recommendations of the existing members.
There will be an annual membership fee which shall be determined from time to time by the committee.
4. Members of the Committee:
The President is the official representative of the Society, and is responsible for calling and chairing the Annual General Meeting and Committee meetings.
The Secretary General records the minutes of the Committee meetings and the Annual General Meetings. The Secretary General is also responsible for the keeping and updating of the membership list, and both internal and external communications. The Secretary General assumes the President's responsiblities during his/her absence.
The Publication/Advertising Officers are responsible for preparing Society's publication, such as newsletters and posters.
The Treasurer is responsible for the day-to-day finacial affairs of the Society. The Treasurer must present the annual account record at the Annual General Meetings.
The Activities Organising Officers are responsible for the organisation of the Society's events.
The Webmaster is responsible for the keeping and updating of the Society's homepage.
5. Annual General Meeting (AGM):
An Annual General Meeting shall be called upon at the end of March, which shall be requested by a member of the committee. The meeting must be announced to the members at least a month in advance. The quorum for an AGM shall be a third of the total membership.
The purpose of an AGM is to elect members of the committee and to amend the constitution if necessary.
Candidates for the committee election must be nominated and seconded.
Every member has the right to attend the AGM, to vote and to be nominated for committee posts.
OURS HISTORY
一九九六年,一群年輕、充滿著抱負與活力的台灣同學，在中國對台灣飛彈恐嚇事件的激發之下定發起一個「另類的」台灣學生組織在英國。想法是去鼓勵在此地的台灣同學,從我們所辦的活動中多去了解台灣的文化及歷史。這團體很直接的被取名為「英國台灣同學會」(TAIWANESE STUDENT ASSOCIATION IN THE U.K.)，如此就這麼誕生啦！
顧名思義,英國台灣同學會是以台灣為名,強調台灣的學生組織.以台灣為名亦使英國台灣同學會於英國校園中具較佳的接受度,更利於台灣同學在校園中進行外交.
此外,英國台灣同學會的活動是動態的,較具雙向溝通的優點,更易促進會員間的友誼.不具任何政治黨派色彩亦使英國台灣同學會能廣納具有前衛,自由派思潮的同學.強調理性與科學的態度更使英國台灣同學會能跟隨時代的脈動迅速的調整它在留英同學中的角色.
